We recognize the unique challenges faced by Black and Brown mothers when it comes to postpartum care. The disparities in maternal mortality and morbidity rates, as well as the higher prevalence of postpartum depression, demand immediate attention and action. Our Postpartum Initiative aims to provide culturally affirming, accessible, and personalized care to address these critical issues.
We are committed to empowering new mothers with the resources, support, and education they need to thrive during their postpartum journey. Through the integration of an innovative Ai-powered doula app, we aim to bridge the gap in postpartum care by offering real-time emotional support, mental health resources, and connection to certified doulas—all at the touch of a button.
Mission:
To provide accessible, culturally affirming, and comprehensive postpartum care for marginalized mothers through innovative solutions, including an AI-powered doula app. Our goal is to reduce maternal health disparities, improve mental health outcomes, and ensure equitable access to vital postpartum resources.
The statistics are clear: Black and Brown mothers face higher rates of maternal mortality, morbidity, and postpartum depression compared to their White counterparts. In Oregon, the maternal mortality rate for Black women is 2.6 times higher than for White women, and the lack of access to culturally competent postpartum care exacerbates these disparities.
This initiative was born out of the need to provide a safe, accessible, and inclusive space for new mothers to receive the support they need. By leveraging technology and collaborating with local healthcare providers, community organizations, and doulas, we aim to change the narrative around postpartum care for marginalized mothers in Oregon.
